Traction on Demand named a best workplace in Canada for women

March 09, 2017

We are very excited to announce that we have been named a “Best Workplace in Canada for Women” by Great Place to Work, ranking seventh out 50 organizations across the country.

According to Åsa Nerelius on our People Team, diversity at Traction on Demand begins with having women as a key part of the recruitment process and consciously engaging and hiring women. Traction has a higher than average ratio of women/men; 31% women compared to the national tech industry average of less than 25%. So far this year, 36% of Traction’s new hires have been women.

In addition, there's also pay parity at Traction, meaning that there is equal pay between women and men. “Coming up, we’re looking at how we can provide greater support to both mothers and fathers, which will include off-boarding for parental leaves and re-onboarding for return to work,” she says.

Watch how Tractionites – both women and men – reacted to Traction being named a best workplace for women.

Traction had to fulfill several criteria to be considered. Organizations must have a minimum of 50 female employees and a minimum 90% positive response to the statement “I am treated fairly regardless of my gender” in the Great Place to Work survey, which Tractionites completed in October 2016. To be eligible for this designation, surveyed organizations also provided male/female breakdown by job level (non-, middle and senior management) to demonstrate representation of women at all levels. Kudos to the other 49 organizations who made the list.
